Why Greece?
Greece has one of the longest coastlines in the world and over 6,000 islands — of which around 230 are inhabited. Each island has its own character, its own cuisine, its own history. This makes Greece a destination you never fully know, no matter how many times you visit.
Santorini is Greece's most iconic face: the blue-domed churches above the caldera, the glow of sunset from Oia, the crystal-clear waters of the lagoon. Those who want to avoid Santorini's tourist season visit in April or October — when the light is golden, prices are moderate and the promenades are quiet.
Crete is a world unto itself: the island is so large that a week barely scratches the surface. Minoan palace ruins at Knossos, the Samaria Gorge, the beach at Elafonissi with its pink sand — and everywhere an olive oil that ranks among the world's finest. The west of Crete is quieter and wilder than the more touristic east.
Corfu in the Ionian Sea surprises with its green landscape — unusual for Greece — and a Venetian old town. Rhodes blends medieval knight history with long sandy beaches. The Dodecanese group, with Symi, Kalymnos and Patmos, offers islands that mass tourism has not yet fully reached.
