City Trips

Europe's Cities – discover & explore.

Short breaks and weekend trips to Europe's most beautiful cities – Berlin, Paris, Prague, Vienna, Rome, Amsterdam and many more. History, culture, architecture and the joy of life.

Cities nourish the soul in their own way.

Walking alone through an unfamiliar city before the tourists wake up – standing in an old cathedral looking upward – sitting in a small café watching life pass by. Cities offer a different kind of stillness. A city break opens the mind, gives new perspective, and reminds us how vast and varied this world is.

Three days can be enough to step out of your routine and come home with new impressions. Give yourself that break.

Frequently Asked Questions

City Trips – What You Should Know

Which European cities are best for a short break?

Prague, Vienna and Budapest are classic weekend destinations with compact old towns and great value. Lisbon and Porto charm with atmosphere and cuisine. Paris, Amsterdam and Barcelona are classics that always surprise. Berlin is essential for anyone who wants to feel history.

When is the best time for a city trip?

Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are ideal: pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds than in peak summer. Cities like Prague or Vienna have special charm in winter with Christmas markets. Paris and Barcelona are attractive year-round.

How long should a city trip last?

For compact cities like Prague or Bruges, 2–3 nights suffice. Larger metropolises like Paris, Berlin or Rome deserve at least 4 nights – leaving time to slow down and discover by chance, not just tick off sights.

How do I get around in cities?

Most European cities have excellent public transport. Walking is the finest way, though – cities reveal themselves differently on foot than from a bus. For travel within Germany and to neighbouring cities, the train is often more comfortable than flying.

What should I look for when choosing a city hotel?

Central location matters more for city trips than beach holidays – short distances to sights, restaurants and public transport save time and energy. Check reviews for noise (street noise) and the breakfast situation.
